There's an article in today's Guardian, "Children's book features gay boy", about a new mainstream novel aimed at teenagers (Paul Magrs, "Strange Boy") which includes a 10-year-old boy's gay experiences though not in graphic detail or as a dominant theme. I've not seen it, but thought you might be interested.

Thanks for the news about that book...altho it's quite depressing that the 15 year old reviewer needs a glossary to wend his way thru the 70's. Sheesh, does that make me a Geezer or what?

And yup, I do remember the significance of 1970...It was the year that I graduated from High School, which happened when Man was 3 months old. The down-side of an intergenerational relationship.

Ah well, loving and being loved is still the best revenge agianst the aging process.

Speaking of books and such, I just saw a movie called "Bruno" made a few years ago, I guess. About a boy about 9 or 10 years old who wins a National Catholic Spelling Bee while cross dressing. The cast is completed by a gigantic mother with fabulous clothes, and was written (I think) and directed as well as co-starring Shirley Maclaine.

I really liked it a lot.

Anybody else seen that one? Not sure how I missed it before...
