It depends if he is romantic. I would have valued a lock of hair. That simple. Even if it was tied with thread and in a plastic bag. I'm romantic.

bit of a challenge with that, then, coz I mean head hair. Anything else is tacky.

Perhaps a ring? Or a necklace of some sort. Something entirely personal.

Dang, then I guess that ruins what I was going to suggest! Sad)

But if you're going to go with the hair, place it in a locket attached to a bracelet. A small picture in it would be nice too. Or you could attach it to a key clasp, if he carrys a house key or anything.

Of course this is the personal gift, and you will probably have to give him something else for the parents to see.

You're a poet, so go with something engraved. Just 1-2 lines. It's amazing how much you can say in 1-2 lines.

Hair works, but you can't engrave that! It depends on the situation. How close you are, how much you see each other.

Look at this tree. I cannot make it blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time [...] No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.
