Ribbons fly in the night,
Colors of the rainbow, together in flight.
Smile for me when its all alright.
be sad for me in the middle of the night..
I'm just a child, wanting to be loved,
Without a home, without anything...
But I want you to smile for me,
Don't be sad.
Be happy for who you have.
Even tho I'm only 12,
I wish I was well enough,
to make a friend, any friend,
instead of always lying in the same old bed.
Not asking for much, just a time or two,
Where we can be friends, all you out there,
Outside the bedroom window, going on your daily duties.
Live your lives, if only for me.
life is a door that is always open for you,
Like the doctors that give needles in us.
We cant go out, so its hard when we get them,
But we close our eyes, and imagine a life,
Where we have our hair, and everything is right.
Cause now, we don't have our hair,
We've got cancer, don't you know.
Not asking for sympathy, just a friend,
just a friend who can hold my hand.
Maybe love...
Only a child, awaiting each tomorrow.
I still smile, even though it hurts.
So live your life, cause I cannot.
Be beautiful...

I also wrote this while listening to Hilary Duff - Stranger. It's a great song, and I love the video for it. If you wanna check it out, here's the link.

I hope you all like the poem. I wrote it because I was thinking about how many sick kids there are in the world right now, with, or without cancer. i hope you all like it.

Josh, maybe just ,maybe this will prompt some of the guys to go visit their local childrens hospital. I volunteer one day a week to go do whatever I can, not just for the ones with cancer, but other terrible things that steal their lives. I dont cry very ofter, but I have cried an ocean of tears for the children I have seen pass away.

hey Roger.
Thanks for replying. i actually don't visit children's hospitals, so this poem isn't about anything I've experienced. I just think about it, and this is what comes out. I'd like to visit a children's hospital one day. I think it would be good for me. It must be hard to see a child pass away. I've never experienced that, but it still makes me sad.
*hugs*

Hi Josh, when my mom was in the hospital after her cancer operation, I had to walk thru the childrens ward to get to her. I saw so many small children, bald and so sick from their chemo treatments. Many of the Boston sport stars spent lots of their free time visiting and reading to them. Big strong athletes with tears streaming down their cheecks as they held these sick children in their arms. Roger is right. These little ones can't understand what's happening to them and need all the love hope and cheer that they can get.

PS, Josh, the poem was lovely
There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love. Washington Irving

I can only hope that we can one day find a cure for cancer... Kids shouldnt have cancer to begin with. It's wrong, but its reality, a cruel one. I wish I could help them.
It's really sad..

Yes Josh, it is cruel and they are making strides everyday in the hunt for a way to stop it. St Judes, Vanderbilt and others fight this monster daily.
I wish you could go and see how brave these children are. With all they have to go thru, they still can smile and laugh.
