I hates lightning and thunder storms....

They creep me out a lot....

Sigh

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Thunder storms used to send me under the covers with a pillow over my head while my German grandfather would sit on the front porch swing smoking his pipe. He sat there swinging while the thunder boomed, hail pounded my mom's flowers flat and the heavy winds sent big branches flying off of the trees.

By the time I became 11 or 12 I was brave enough to join him on the swing and enjoy watching the fury of nature.

A pro golfer once said that when he was on the golf course and a sudden storm hit, he would raise a one iron high over his head. Smiling he added, "Even God can't hit a one iron".

The storm that really scared me was going through a hurricane in a 40 foot sail boat lashed down to mangrove trees in a "hurricane hole" in Culebra, a small island in the Virgin Island chain. The three of us sat listening to distress calls on the radio while praying that our lines were strong enough to hold us in place. After the eye had passed over us and the wind change was holding us against the trees we started feeling pretty good.....then lightening struck the mast and burned out all our electrical circuts. We spent a dark and lonely night, but we survived.
