Jack, make sure to take the trip out to the Mayan Pyramids at Chitsenitza (sp?). Also Xcaret is very beautiful. And that is a definite YES to bringing an empty suitcase. Mucho bargains all around.

I think there are some pretty impressive Mayan ruins and archeological sites on Cancun itself. It seems to have been a vacation getaway spot since ancient times.

Actually, those ruins are a few miles south in Tulum. Cancun Island was once uninhabited and infested with snakes. I believe when I was there, the tour guide told me that Cancun is Mayan for snakepit.

Nice to see you here dude, I hope you had a nice Christmas.

Ah! Thanks for the correction! My parents have been there several times and Dad always mentioned "doing the ruins" and I sort of assumed the ruins were actually on Cancun.

Thanks for the comment about seeing me here. I've been caught up in some drama lately with my "little brother" from school, and the holidays are always very busy here on the Tidewater. One party and formal dinner after another. If we're not hosting one, we're going to one. I need to get back to school to get some rest!
