Dear Michael Sargeant,

You baffle me. The ego is a product of the human mind and of limited (in my opinion) value in the process of understanding oneself. I think it may be like the psyche (the subject of psychology) in that after a hundred years it may fall out of fashion as the psyche has (incidentally making psychology the only supposed science with a subject nobody believes in! Wink.

I'd like to ask for a test and its imagined results such that if the test were performed and the results were obtained it would prove that the ego did not exist.

The fact that (according to me) such a test is impossible (as it is for a proof of the non-existence of God) shows that the ego doesn't belong in the normal true/false category. If something can't be shown to be false it can't be shown to be true either. Things that are neither true nor false are often puzzles or word games and of limited value in the real world.

Love,
Anthony
