In memory of Lawrence "Larry" Fobes King 1/13/1993 - 2/13/2008
Larry King, a California teenager, was fatally shot by a classmate for his crime of being openly gay.
His family has established a memorial site to this young man. Here we can view a slideshow of
Larry growing up, we can sign his guestbook, contribute to a Memorial Fund or post in his forum.

the christian leaders of this world have taught and instilled in their congregations a fear and hate for gays. This is the end result and people wonder why were afraid to come out. This boy was murdered because of his being different, not because he did anything to anyone or because he was evil, just because he was gay. Not only the boy who shot him should be punished but also his parents and all the ones who taught him to hate gay people. Untill this stops none of us will be safe.
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you......

Apart from being a memorial, this is a useful site.
I've just shown it to a 14 year old lad in CA who is deeply in love with a schoolfriend. I've suggested he show the (blissfully unaware) schoolfriend the site and discuss it. That way he may discover his friend;s attitude to gay teenagers.

I think that while there is such hatred around we ought to reduce the danger that it will lead to bad consequences. If guns were unobtainable maybe he wouldn't have been shot.
I do think English schools have more and worse homophobia; I don't know of a gay-straight alliance at any school, but in the UK very few schoolchildren are murdered at school.
Love,
Anthony

It is so very sad when life is taken for whatever reason.
I do like to think that in the u.k it is generally accepted, i live near london where yes it is normal for people to be openly gay.
Also within the church movement in the u.k. i dont think removing guns is the answer, people will allways kill if it is in them to do so.

Murders were being committed long before the invention of the firearm. Obviously, without guns people cannot be shot to death. But any blunt or sharp object can be used to end a person's life. Is it lack of firearms in the UK that results in fewer school mortalities or some underlying cultural differences and values? Do we even value human life in the U.S. to the extent that you do? After all, this is a nation that still upholds the death penalty and applies it with fervor. I think these are the issues that we need to be taking a long, hard look at. :-/

The uk is a small island, the usa is the size of europe, so i think we have more bad things happen in the u.k than the usa.
and yes if there were no guns or knives people would use cluds to damage each other.
So its all about education of people but i dont hold out much hope, because its an animal type thing. think about it.
and about who is best to lead the team, army people are trained to kill, so what chance is there really.

Well.... get used to it.
The bigotry will never stop....
Not as long as there are religious xealots which will pillerize gays...
and they are going no place soon....
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Since stricter gun laws were introduced during the Blair administration violent crime rates have increased dramatically in the UK.
If guns were unobtainable then no-one would get shot. But guns, like drugs, will never be unobtainable. Only the already law abiding care about gun laws.
Society has to change, but giving more power to the government regarding regulation of tools isn't going to make people more responsible for their own thoughts, decisions and actions.

If all weapons were removed, people would use anything to kill or hurt the person they are for what ever reason angry with.
So we are left with the punishment for the crime.
so many people in the civilised countries think that a bad person can be healed by locking them up and letting then be re intoduced as better people back into society.
In the u.k we let people out early because our prisons are overflowing,
So the message is in the u.k. do as you please because you will be out in a few months.
So sad.
I had a dog that attatcked my child no need to say what happened to the dog.
My point is that some people through no fault of there own will never be any different. so they must be removed and put in a safe place, and repent.
I know this shoud be a new thread but i am answering the gun situaiton.
