This is Chapter 4. I know it's short, but I hope you all like it.

Chapter 4

The bell rang, and class was over..

I gathered my books for the next class from my locker and headed over there. There was still a few minutes to do nothing before class started, so I wandered around the halls for a bit. My thoughts wandered back and fourth between different things.

That boy, Daren. Who was he? Not that I was concerned or anything, my thoughts just focused on him. I didn’t know why, nor was I prepared for what happened next… He saw me. That’s nothing major of course, but I found it interesting. Why? What was it about him that I found interesting? I couldn’t think. I looked to the ground while he made his way over to me. He stopped as he was 3 feet from me. He put his hand on my cheek, then walked on. Nothing changes.. Nothing ever changes. I looked at the clock and it was time to get to my next class.

The time was 10:30 in the morning. Science wasn’t very interesting. The teacher went over the periodic Table of Elements. She gave us a quiz.

‘Now, I want everyone to write down each element in the correct space on the table. Those who do well on this assignment will have no homework tonight.’

‘Yay’ I said to myself sarcastically. It didn’t matter. Nothing mattered. But I still went on to do the table anyway. I handed it to the teacher like the perfect little student I was. As I was handing the assignment to her, I noticed that boy looking at me again across from me.

What is it with him.. I said to myself. Then for some unknown reason, I touched the spot on my cheek where he put his hand. It was, warm. I made no changes whatsoever. I simply stared out the window at the boundless sky. I didn’t want to pay attention to the pointless chatting and boring drama of the everyday life that was my own. My life was boring, and no one cared. Even him..

Class ended, and it was time for lunch.

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love. Washington Irving
