I was just informed that Curtis was rushed to the hospital this morning. I dont know exactly what happned, but will keep you posted as I find out. My understanding is he is in guarded condition.

"guarded" seems to mean that the prognosis is uncertain and the medical opinion is guarded. It appears to be a step down from High Dependency, but is continuous monitoring. Could a US person please validate my understanding?

Ok, Curtis, I know you won't see this until you are fit again, but don't you dare die on us, or lose body parts, or stuff. I know I only really know you from your messages here, but I'm damned proud to know you, and I would be proud as hell to have you as an extra son.

We've sent emails to Jeff so he only has to "Reply All" to hit all of Curtis's friend over here on the coast. How did you get the news?

I am praying for Curtis' quick recovery. From what I know about him thru this board, he is a amazing young man. I wish him all the best and will include Jeff in my prayers as well.

We heard briefly from Jeff. They don't know what's causing the problem, but Jeff said it was way more serious than Curtis not being hydrated like last time. Jeff was at the hospital all day.

We're all pulling for him over here. He's a cool dude.

You have a huge number of cyber friends you've never even talked to Curtis, because they just read the board but don't post. Let me be the one to send you mega hugs from them and from myself as well. Fight the good fight bud. We all want you well very quickly.

Heard from Jeff again. This is as of about 1930 hrs EDT. I didn't see it before this because I've been busy with homework and other things.

Curtis is still in guarded condition but is breathing now without assistance and regained consciousness very briefly, but was groggy and out of it. His uncle and both grandparents arrived. His condition seems to be gradually stabilizing and I guess tests will start to figure out what happened.

My Father says that breathing without the intubation is a good sign.

I know Curtis appreciates all the well wishes from you guys.

Latest news from Jeff, about an hour old. We were in the cafeteria so didn't see this email right away.

Curtis is now awake and semi-alert. He is breathing better and more steadily and still off the respirator. He is talking a little bit too. They think his body chemistry shifted and it caused his meds to go and act cuckoo. That or he might have forgot and took a double dose of one and forgot to take another. But he's going to get better. Thank God. He's a cool guy.

We'll keep you and everybody up to date as we hear stuff from Jeff. Curtis has that weird thing with his kidneys and the hormone deficiency. Sometimes his whole body goes out of synch chemical wise and his meds either over control or undercontrol. It's a bitch. jeff told him we're all praying for him and he thinks Curtis understood that.

I've been away from the board for a few days and have only just seen this message (Wednesday morning). Please let Curtis know that, like everybody here, I have him in my thoughts (and in my prayers). His is a personality that is just to precious to lose so soon. Curtis, may you make a complete recovery - and soon.
