There is a memorial site on the web through the combined efforts of PenguinHuggle and Codey'sWorld. A number of people have been memorialized with candles. ACFan's young nephew, Danny, now has his spot here. Would you take a minute to go to the site, light a candle and leave a brief message of comfort for the family? It doesn't matter that he never knew you or that you knew him. What matters is that you knew about his plight and were touched in some small or great way. If you can think of no words of comfort, a simple "thinking of you" will do - it's all good.

Thanks guys, the response is awesome. I think the family will be in awe that so many strangers show concern. Smile

Is "Daniel Stopper" the kid's real name? I tried to Google him, maybe find an obit and get a more thorough representation of what happened, but there's not a single hit, News or Web.

I only ask cause when a 17 year-old dies of sketchy medical causes, it's news. It gets covered. I can't understand why there would be absolutely no word on this within the mainstream media.

You will probably find that the sketchy medical causes that we have seen are less sketchy when viewed by the medical profession, and thus, while extremely sad, the death is not newsworthy.

In due time search engines will index the references to Danny on sites such as this one, but news media has, probably fortunatley for his family, no interest. "Gay men round the world mourn ....." is probably not a headline one would hope to see, too.
