http://fightaidsathome.org is the home page of an organisation that uses spare compute time on your pc to run software to help in AIDS research.

It is relaticely simple to join, and costs you zilch. I chose to join a team named IPOCO, but teams are optional things. IPOCO was founded by a guy who posts on the Shack, so I saw every reason to join it.

There's a bit of downloading of software to do, but that's pretty automatic, and it doesn't seem to conflict with any other resources. It seems to me that we all can and should nmake a contribution somewhere. This one seesms practical.
Sod it, let's have a new team for ourselves!  [message #3740 is a reply to message #3738] Thu, 01 August 2002 11:36 Go to previous messageGo to next message

This thing is working pretty well. The "IOMfAtS team" has four members, and seems to be processig stuff well enough. It would be fun to see if we can knock others off their lofty perches, but truly it's just for fun.

Process even a single task on your won PC and that is one task that doesn't need processing again. And your task might be the one that finds something significant.

Or not, I suppose.
