That's just it. There are no tourists. I guess their stone throwing aim has gone off. When were you there? There was a period of significant unrest a few years back.

The only help they need is to get their economy back on track. Part of that is tourism, just like the UK needs tourists.

yes about 6 years back . yes things do improve.
i just could not understand why they would abuse us when we help support there eomonomy through tourisim

It may have has something to do with LTTE (Tamil Tigers) and the area you were in. If you were in the north or the east then this may have been the cause. It is entirely different from our experience, and the political climate there has changed a very great deal

That doesn't 'detract' from the unpleasant experience you had, not at all. All I can say is that my experience and yours differed.
