I think if McCain wins the US election that will hasten China's rise to supremacy because the US will be wrecked.

Russia is still just about a no account former power, but the US is heading that way unless it sorts itself out fast. If the US crumbles as the USSR did, then Russia will be above the US in the pecking order.

The US appears to be on a crusade against Islam. This will further radicalise and strengthen militant Islam though alienate the Islamic majority for a while.

The UK need to pull its horns in and concentrate on domestic policies for a decade or two. We do not and can not dominate anything nowadays.

I am of the opinion that there is a very large majority of Americans like me who would like to see the United States become almost entirely isolationist and tell the whole rest of the world to leave us alone. We would continue having a strong Navy and do what it took to protect ourselves but then just let everyone else do the same and not get blamed for all the world's problems. "If I were King" as a friend of mine is prone to say, I would make it a treasonable offense for anyone to sell any of the munitions made in this country to anyone else and try to get the UN to resolve something of the same. Of course the munitions companies would probably try to have me assassinated as soon as possible.

I wouldn't do anything to restrict trade other than that.

And also, I don't think that the US is the only country that stands to have a big problem if the Chinese become a large economic power. The USA is not the only country with trade deficits with Japan and China etc.
