I am starting to receive a very few more stories from his possessions. Slightly surreal in a way, we have "Paul and Simon" from beyond the grave, sent by someone who cared for him deeply.

Dear Timmy,
I didn't remember him so I went and read some of the Paul and Simon stories.
They're good but haven't been edited properly. There are typos, words misused and occasional false notes. Not enough to put me off. I'm going to read the rest of what you/he has posted. I'd volunteer to edit but don't know who I should volunteer to. Somebody cared for him a lot if they are unearthing work from six years or more ago and sending it to you.
Love,
Anthony

I'm working with the new sender to decide whom to "apply to". I tend to expect them to be shipped to me in "oven ready" form

I have a message I have agreed with the author of the stories:
"It has recently come to light that the stories published here by The Scholar were, in fact, penned by a friend of his who wanted us all to enjoy them. No deception was intended and the true author is happy to learn that they have been well received and have been enjoyed over the years by so many people; and he hopes that any new stories that appear will be just as warmly received. He has asked that they still be published here under the name of The Scholar and dedicates those earlier works to his late friend with thanks for making them available to a wider public."
I will be sorting this out on the site on Monday or thereabouts.

If you care to look at http://iomfats.org/storyshelf/hosted/scholar/ you will see that I have done everything reasonable to put this right. It meets with the approval of the real author and does not diminish the memory of the man who was our friend here, and who became caught up in a deception made unwittingly by his partner.
May I ask those who read any of the stories to give the author a surprise, and to follow the email link (using the name at the chapter heads) and let him know if you enjoyed reading any/all tales.
Actually one ought to do that with all authors when one appreciates their work, but this author is particularly surprised that people like his writing.

Quite frankly to this reader this is all rather ridiculous. You have an author who uses a pen name, like Grasshopper or Sunshine Boy. As I recall he even signed his emails "The Scholar", as opposed to Grasshopper who's name I know.
This author supposedly dies and a biography is posted; but we still didn't know who he was since only first names were provided. Six years later the author wants to write again and we are told that the biography was itself a piece of fiction.
I'm not getting down on you Timmy, or the author; actually I'm having a hard time not laughing at it all. My point is, who cares. The guy is a good writer. I don't know who he, or even she, is and I don't need to know. I'll read his work and enjoy it or not based upon it's merits, this little soap opera notwithstanding.

Actually, the stories published here by The Scholar were, in fact, written by The Scholar.

PS- Even the "biography" was interesting reading given his son's death at seven and his own suffering with agoraphobia, which led to his death.

Just to clarify, you are saying that the person who wrote the stories posted in 2002 is not the same person who is writing the stories currently being posted under the pen name "The Scholar".

No. I'm saying that the author is still the same, BUT that we all thought he was someone else. We thought he was the guy in the biography, but he isn't.
So the "is he the same guy" question depends on your perspective. If you thought he was the dead guy then he is different. If you never cared who he was and just read and liked or disliked the stories then "who cares?"
Make sense?
The announcement is for those who either cared, or who are curious.
