He has flu. Those of us who know him will realise that this is serious since he has a bad heart and is carrying a little too much weight. He's having a rotten time. I don't mean "he has a sniffle." He has Influenza, and it is a serious illness. It killed more people than The Great War in the year just after that.
I can't remember if his profile has an email address in it or not, but I'm guessing that he would adore some messages from you guys.
I'm pretty sure he's worried sick by the situation in Israel, too. I know his son has been called up to fight. I think we leave the rights and wrongs of the Gaza stuff and stay on the human level for the friend we know and his family. Political campaigning can happen elsewhere for or against Israel, but one of our own is there and suffering, and sick, and probably being very brave and being scared shitless for his family.
That cannot be helping his recovery

His profile does have an email address. And Hallmark has free ecards!

The thing is, he's not been well for over two weeks. But I've been lulled into a false sense of his wellness, because I see information from him periodically through an automatic system. So I hadn't missed him as I should have.
Here he posts infrequently, so missing him would be unusual. And yet he's been away for a while.

Well, it isn't flu. It's pneumonia. He is somewhat on the mend and they now have the right medicine for him, so he ought to be out of the woods soon. Lung X ray next week.
he won't be online now until after the Sabbath, but I'm sure emails to him would be much appreciated when he gets back online. Or messages here.

Good to hear he's on the mend - though pneumonia is serious and can take a long time to get over. He's deeply-valued and much-loved ... hope he makes a rapid and full recovery.

Dear Friends,
Reports of my imminent demise have been grossly exaggerated!
I do have a very nasty bout of pneumonia which, my doctor - rather too gleefully in my opinion - says will take some time to clear up. So don't expect me around here too much over the next few days: make hay while the sun shines.
Sincerest thanks to all those who wrote to me both privately and publicly. I am very grateful indeed. Unfortunately, these bacteria are taking all my NRG and even writing these few lines is exhausting.
No hugs for anyone - wouldn't want to pass on the germs!

Chatted to JFR earlier. He's had quite a beating. He had to sleep in a chair for ages, but, last night, he got a decent night's sleep in his own bed. Things are improving, obviously slowly.
The slightly scary thing is he has v]been vaccinated against pneumococcal infections. Me too.
He seems able to manage about 10 minutes of "stuff" before the lethargy of being ill overcomes him, so he has a long road ahead to get back to feeling himself (that too!).

He's had a beating, and he's not out of the woods yet. But the trees are getting thinner.
