I was just wondering what this sit is supposed to be about. I used to think I had shrewd idea about it but the poll on homepage kind proves me wrong.

Well it belongs to Timmy, justa90skid, but I think you are allowed to push it in almost any direction you like if you are nice about it.

What I have used it for is to say things and admit things that I really don't think I would have dared to do even to people who are good friends.

I felt safe about it. I think that was what Timmy would have wanted too.

Love,
Anthony

... the Forum itself, rather than its' parent Domain, can be anything you wish it to be, insofar as you are the master of your own destiny if and when you step forward and either reply to an existing topic, or start a new one just as you have done with the question you pose through this thread.

As Anthony points out in his reply to you, as long as you are nice about it, the fraternity here will respond, to one degree or another, to just about any topic that you could reasonably want to suggest.

Timmy, the Domain owner (and the Forum founder and moderator) is the ultimate arbitrator or what's allowed and what's not. This is as it should be. He after all is said and done finances the operation. The rest of us are his guests, and are expected to behave accordingly.

The Domain, and by extension this Forum, were as I understand it, developed to help Timmy work through his own personal daemons with regard to his sexuality, and to provide a "safe haven" where others with similar issues could gather and pro-actively support one another. In visiting this place, you need never, ever, feel that you are alone, that no-one understands you, that none other has ever faced situations similar to your own.

This understanding has evolved simply into being that we who gather here, notwithstanding our reasons for doing so, respect all and everyone who visit, regardless of our own personal agendas, beliefs or moral background. Rudeness, aggression and bigotry have no place here. Compassion (tempered by basic truths about ourselves and our situation) is our only currency.

Further reference should be made to an earlier thread entitled "Off Limits List", which you'll find continues to remains a current topic under discussion.

... that Timmy, whom I believe to be vacationing with his family at present, would normally be the individual more properly equipped to respond to a question such as this.

I do hope that our replies have helped you in the interim.

Timmy views the story pages and the forum as ... unrelated, actually. As opposed to most story sites with forums you seldom see here discussions about the stories or authors.

I understand your comment regarding the home page poll. Some time ago there was a thread here that went along with that poll but the poll has long outlived the discussion. For the most part the polls found there relate to the forum rather than any of the stories.

As Warren has noted, Timmy developed the story site to publish his and other gay oriented stories and the forum to help himself and others in dealing with the difficulties presented by their emerging sexuality. Timmy particularly wanted to help young gays avoid going through some of the same things and make the same mistakes that he did.

What do you think the site is about and why does the current poll prove you wrong?

The site and forum are certainly distinct, but are also linked by the common thread of homosexuality. When a tale is discussed (rarely) it is for the emotions that the author creates, not the writing. And we tend to discuss our own hopes and fears. What we do not do is critique tales here, simply because an author desiring a critique can easily ask anyone for it in private.

So the site is multi-faceted. Most people never find it all, though none is hidden. And the forum is but one facet.

With the forum, those who participate are often surprised to learn that their participation, hugely important as it is for themselves, is even more important for those who simply read and never feel the need nor desire to contribute.

We who live a part of our lives in public show those who choose not to do so some of the choices they can make, if they wish.

The stories attract people, and I try to showcase those that are the best I can find. The information part helps those with a need to know, and the forum creates a sense of realoty, perhaps even a ommunity.
