I suppose that's good news, Paul, though I have my doubts, as anything that makes religion more acceptable seems to me a move in the wrong direction.

Love,
Anthony

Anthony, I'm not sure that I have understood you. However, sadly I must admit that if I have understood you correctly I must agree with you. It seems that not only the Lutheran Church is having to do some hard thinking. Here in Israel the ultra-ultra-ultra orthodox (who are still living in 17th century Poland - in the sweltering Middle East) have at long last realised that they have gay men among them. (Up until now, like Ahmedinijad, they have denied that their community has such a "problem".)

The proposed solution? Men may marry women on the mutual understanding that there will be no sex between them (or minimal sex for the sake of procreation if so desired) and that the wife recognises that her husband is permitted to form a liaison with another man, provided that they don't fuck each other. (Presumably, other 'carnal' contact is permitted.)

Oh, what a ridiculously tangled web we weave...

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)
