We come to that time of year when the sun starts to return from its apparent journey south – on Monday, 21 December, at 17.47 hrs GMT/UTC, somewhere over the Pacific Ocean west of the northern coast of Chile. Here in England the sun has already begun to set later although the night is still lengthening as it rises later too. It will not start to rise earlier here until the 6 January.

Here's to you, Kiwi. Your loss is our gain.

Hugs
Nigel

I wonder if it is auspicious that I move home that day.

Curses Nigel - foiled again!

I've been waiting to beat you to post that message.

Thanks for the sun though - time we had it back!

cheers

Only if you are superstitious - although you did choose the day with the least daylight.
Hope your power is switched on there.

Hey, Kiwi, I even gave you advanced notice this time. Try again. Put 20 March 10, 17.32 hrs GMT/UTC in your diary, but 21st 06.32 hrs NZ time. Again you can work out where on the Equator it will happen.

Hugs
Nigel

PS - without working it out I would guess the Galapogas Islands.

I think the day chose us, really.

I propose it to be an auspicious set of circumstances. A new dawn.

Nigel, I always look forward to your declaration of the sun's return to the northern hemisphere. Thank you!
