For those of you in the UK & elsewhere who aren't aware of this man, he is unfortunately one of the most powerful & influential televangelists in the United States. Of course, his being highly respected by his peers & some members of the public such as Pastor Rick Warren or others in the Anti-Gay movement sometimes takes a hit when he comes out with purely 'out there' crap like this segment from his Christian Broadcasting Network News show earlier today:

Unfortunately, I hear nonsense like this all the time here from 'religious' sources - though, of course, about internal crises here. It is nonsense, and it frightens me that people in 21st century can not only believe this kind of thing but also sell it their faithful.
I have never heard this man speak before, so I must thank Brody for posting the video snippet. I found the man uninspiring, insipid and boring. Does the man not have any compassion for the victims of this natural disaster? Why does he pour salt on their wounds by accusing them of practising black magic? His message and his manner are repulsive.
Where is America's intelligentsia?

I doubt if anyone of intelligence in the US is supprised by this latest Pat Robertson outrage, except I have seen nothing about it in the mainstream media. I believe this country has had about enough of his misguided ranting, and except for his followers, the man is finished.
I believe his 'world will end tomorrow' scenarios gave people the insight that he's a fake messinger of God, but then he claims to speak to the Almighty all the time. I'd hate to see his phone bill.
Like the other misguided televangelists of our time he will be forgotten once he is gone, their programs belong amidst the daytime soap operas. It's all just bad entertainment supported by those who wish to be duped and like to waste their money.
Yes, for you folks in the UK, America is blessed with stupid things like this. Think Benny Hill with a cross around his neck, but then I have to appologize. Mr. Hill is probably in heaven, Robertson better invest in a fire-proof suit.

This is best retort I've found yet and it DID come from the mainstream media as unfortunately Chris J., Robertson still managed to get "air" time. From MSNBC's Keith Olbermann:

Wow! Brody, thank you soooo much for posting that video clip. I loved every second of it. So, American intelligentsia is alive and kicking. Thank God for such mercies.

Keith Olbermann managed to hit just the right tone with this commentary. Kudos to him for taking out the trash for us.

Now Benny Hill was a bizarre and rarely funny man who made his money from providing genuine entertainment which one either liked or loathed. His TV shows were banal, risqué harmless, and very much of their time. A lot of the roots of his art were in silent movies.
I never found him funny, but I can see his skill.
Televangelists make their money not from entertainment but from manufactured feelings of guilt. They browbeat and use emotional blackmail. And they are only marginally more entertaining than watching two dogs copulate, something we can see free on the streets of any inner city at any time.
I find the advertising of the televangelists' christian deity to be offensive and divisive.
So, if it comes down to a choice of having to watch a fat man with spectacles chasing a bevy of giggling girls in a speeded up sequence, or watching dogs copulate, I go for the fat man looking like a naughty little boy every time.
Besides, Benny Hill is not politically correct! Go Benny!

I guess an event is not a true disaster until Robertson, Limbuagh, ect, say something extremly stupid, offensive, insensitive, crude, irritating, caustic, outrageous, idiotic, demeaning, dumb, silly,...
