First I agree with you.
Second, this type of trade is as old as the human race. We seem to be the sole creature on the planet that is capable of cruelty for the sake of being cruel, slavery and so much else that is bad.
The cynic in me also says that this is a great story to attract donations to charities. maybe that is over cynical, but all sorts of folk take advantage of disasters and charities, whether we like it or not, are big business with big overheads and quite often were founded to create a job for the founder complete with income.

The latest news is that the Haitian government stopped USA baptist church members driving a busload of children into the Dominican Republic. They have been arrested and could be serving jail time.
