HAHAHAHAHAHA I Love it! Without a doubt The Onion is the best. I rate it up there right next to The Family Guy for brilliant & sharp humour. Cheers Nigel!
Here's a little something in return for you in appreciation.

Thanks, Nigel. I understand the nature of satire, just not sure that YouTube is the place for it. After viewing the sketch, done quite well by the actors, a thought occured to me. I wondered how long it would take someone to repost this out of context...and discovered they already had.
Taken as a whole the sketch is mildly homophobic, filled with stereotypes. The gay innuendo and suggestive poses leave the viewer to believe that gay men are all about sex and the lesbians nothing but butch. I contest that, but it seems the producers have fallen into that mold. In that sense the comparison of gay to smoking falls short of funny.
And now there are several additional YouTube posts where the sketch has been cut and only the first 20 seconds of the "commercial" have been posted. Viewed like that it become a negative homo image, the satire lost in a homophobic statement. It was bound to happen, and those who view it will think that outrageously funny...on the negative side. How sad.

I don't know what 'The Onion' is and probably not many people this side of the pond do. For that reason so many might not realise it's satire, and it's not obviously so.
Hugs

"Many people also failed to realised that 'till Death Us Do Part' was satire, also ironic."
Nope. That wasn't satire. It ends at death. My wife does not like hearing it, but that was the deal, that's what we said, that was our non-satirical vow. Once I'm dead, I'm a free man. After I'm dead, I'm released from all my conjugal vows and free to have sex with any necrophiliac that will have me.
