Being the richest 'Nation" on the planet, they are not very smart are they... And I would have to go with timmy's statement about selling the Vatican and feeding the world.
They are just a group of Oedipus complex driven individuals that are afraid of losing what little power they still hold over the world... As you may have already guessed I am not a huge fan of the Vatican nor am I a fan of any oxymoronic paradoxical ideas that they may have about how things should work...
But on the other hand, I guess that they are still good for a laugh

They oppose artificial contraception? Don't they know that all contraception is artificial? - i.e. it's a measure taken against conception, which is a fairly regular occurrence in nature when a sperm penetrates an ovum. (God! Did I say 'penetrate'?!) Perhaps they think that coitus interruptus is 'natural'. Obviously they think that the safest form of contraception is doing it with a choirboy.

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)

To quote, perhaps misquote, Billy Connolly, perhaps even to mis-spell him, "At the time or ejaculation there is no way my backside will move away!" It's better on stage with actions!
But Roman Catholics love to ruin sex!
To quite a parent at my son's leaving gathering at Winchester, after the gentleman looked into the courtyard and saw a procession of Quiristers, "Pass me another choirboy, would you? This one;s split!"
I'm totally happy with any church that basis its morality upon buggery, provided it does not bugger the little children.
