I have no idea just what a "Crush" version is; but, for those who may be interested, I provide a link to the actual "Live" music and "Parody" vidéo as originally performed and aired by the University of Rochester Yellow Jackets 'a cappela' group during their 21st Alumni Dinner and Show, for which the vidéo portion was especially filmed and edited by University of Rochester aspiring filmmaker Dan Petracca whose work includes the forthcoming Documentary film entitled "Walking The Dream":
I have no idea what the true-life dynamic is that exists between this "Parody" vidéo's two stars Matt Frazer (the Jock) and Michael Pittman (the Nerd), other than their both being current featured performers with the Yellow Jackets and each having been born and grown up in Western New York State; but, their portrayal of the two youths here palpably crackles with sexual tension and longing, and regardless of one's own personal attitudes towards same-sex relationships, I can't believe that anyone is going to go away from a screening of this vidéo feeling the least bit awkward.

It was a warm video.
Before my boyfriend became my boyfriend, he would often abscond with my high school letterman jacket and wear it proudly. Of course, I wasn't getting the message at the moment but nonetheless, he certainly was holding up his sign to me.
"Once upon a time, in a land far away, a high school jock who was to die for good looking gave up everything because he fell in love with the school emo gay nerd."
What planet do these guys live on I wonder?
Even if the jock did love the nerd he would never come out in high school and act like the guys in this video. High school is just not like this.

Agreed, Cabin Boy. The characters in this clip are stereotypes, the jock, the gay nerd...there is nothing real about the plot. With analysis I'd say the jock is an opportunist, not even bi-sexual. The gay nerd needs acting lessons, the whole thing is just bad camp.
Does anyone even remember the term "Camp"???
Camping it up was all about being over the top gay, too gay...the uber-female gay male. It was play acting, often naughty, bitchy. For example: Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is camp. In context it's hilarious. I speak of the film, haven't seen the musical.
Camp is what one does in drag or not, it's not a trans thing, it's not meant to be real. One gay man cannot do camp, it takes a group of individuals each trying to top the other. That gay nerd in the film tried a solo camp act, didn't work for me.

I think I know what you mean. In school there are a bunch of gay guys or at least I think they are all gay and they go into this like role when they are all in a group. When you talk to one of them one on one they act girly but not loud girly like when they are in a group. My friend Aaron says they are all trying to be the fairy godmother at once.
I have not seen the movie you mentioned.
I mosdef do not want to dress in girls clothes and act like a girl. Success in high school is more about fitting in. I think I could be gay and out with it if I had some other things going. Like if I was a super jock or had some other talent that was looked up to. Like there is a girl in our school who is mosdef a dyke from the getgo but she is the best artist anywhere so people like overlook her dykeness.

Yes, high school is NOT the place to attract attention, at least until you are the star quarterback on the football team. Freshmen get enough grief, the totem pole looks real tall from the bottom. Hang in there.
As for Priscilla, NOT a film you take the guys to see LOL...here's why:

I have no idea why some gay folk act girly. When I tell people I'm gay they mostly refuse to believe me. I am just an ordinary guy. Something tells me that you are, too.

This is an obvious fantasy and I loved it for the fantasy. Boy meets boy, boys fall in love and then boys live happily ever after. Of course it's fantasy. But it's the concept that is the "awwww" factor. Who of us wouldn't have wanted their lives to take such a wondrous turn? It's the sort of fantasy I base my stories on.
The reality is usually far different. We tend to fall in love with a straight boy and if we are foolish enough to tell him then he outs us and we become ostracized by the rest of the student body. Ouch!
The movie "Trevor" gives a bit more realism to the situation. Here is a short clip of what is a very short (20 min) movie.
By the way, welcome to the forum, CabinBoy.
