I follow the blog of a young professional man who does his best to be a faithful Mormon. He felt all was going reasonably well with his acceptance within his family until he told another sister.

See what he says: http://scrumcentral.blogspot.com/2010/03/zeus-flings-thunderbolt.html

I'm sure he would appreciate your thoughts in the comments there

Timmy,

Thanks for this. This story touched me more than it would the average gay man. I was raised in the LDS faith. I will be forwarding this today as I know a number of people who try to reach out to gay, christian youth. Articles that help such youths to get a better understanding of scripture and how it relates to homosexuality are important. But so too are stories such as these that deal with perseverance in the face of church and family homophobia.

I don't think youth today is any different from when we were growing up. When you first get that glimmering that you may be a 'poofter' you feel alone and isolated. But thank God for the world wide web today that allows young people to research their feelings and see how others have dealt with the same issues.
