I LOVE this site!! Timmie, get better soon and get back to updating pal! (Exercise that pelvis )...
Has anyone seen the movie "Beautiful Thing"? I saw it for the first time yesterday and thought it was awesome... It was filmed in Thamesmead in 1996 and is about the growing love between 2 boys. No, it is not pornographic, just a really good movie. I recommend it to all.

Hi Atty and welcome. I haven't watched it yet, but I've purchased it and am saving it for a rainy day...one of those days I just feel like watching a good movie with my wife.
I really enjoyed a movie called Sommersturm or Summer Storm. It's in German with English subtitles but a very nice coming out/learning to love story. It's about a rowing team captain who comes out in the process of competing against a gay rowing team. Acam here is a 'row your boat' guy and recommended it.
Folks here turned me on to a lot of great movie titles. We're really a disparate group, yet we have much in common. This is a unique place. I've been coming here for a little over a year, and it has precipitated lots of changes in my life...all for the better of course. I hope that you find it as useful and stay for many years like a lot of the folks here.

I had forgotten about your ass. I thought it was just a small fall. If you are still hurting, I feel that everyone here owes you a bit of healing sympathy. Asses are very important parts of our anatomy and it is tragic when they are out of commission. Hope yours gets back in shape quickly.

Thanks Macky! I've been visiting this site for a little over a year also, but just joined the forum today. I will have to look for the movie you mentioned, not really sure where to find it but will look online.

I got a tip from M, here, about that....Blockbuster was where I found it. They have lots of gay films. Used to be in foreign film section, but now you can find them on the higher shelves lining the walls. At least that's how it is in the Blockbusters around here.

That's about the time I first saw it too attatood. I bought it weeks ago and only just got around to looking at it, but I had to interrupt the showing twice and so I think I need to play it through again.
It's sweet.
Love,
Anthony

attatood, try and get hold of a copy of "Get Real" at the same time. Similar theme, very funny and a bit of a tear-jerker in parts. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it.
Hugs

.. and I remember my seeing it during its' very first Worldwide Broadcast telecast as part of Toronto's Pride Week in 1996, when it was a featured selection of Alliance-Atlantis Communications Inc's (now owned by CanWest Global Media Inc) then Cable-access Channel's "The Showcase Review"; a weekly late evening Friday and Saturday alternative content telecast hosted by an East-Indian lady (whose name is lost in the mists of my mind although she's long departed now) who conducted a round-table discussion surrounding the making of each of the films screened on the programme. Each, and every, spring for the next half-dozen years, or thereabouts, she would bring the film back for another go round as part of the station's continuing Pride Week celebrations. Others featured throughout the intervening years on the same programme were Broadcast Premières of the teen-angst ridden coming-of-age tale "Get Real" (a film mentioned elsewhere in this thread), the extremely controversial, and somewhat infamous, BBC/Alliance-Atlantis' co-productions of the six-part television serial "Nature Boy" and the feature-length gay-themed mystery "No Night Is Too Long", gay-themed short films "Nunzio's Second Cousin" and "Alkali, Iowa" amongst others, the dark allegorical comedy "The Wolves of Kromer", contemporary coming-out dramas "Like It Is", and "Head On", Alliance-Atlantis' own "Ice Men", "Hellbent", and "Rites of Passage" and so, so, many more.
Sadly, the Review is no more, nor are the Pride Week screenings of special interest content which had been a Canadian mainstay for nearly two decades culminating with the creation of LGBT "Specialty" Pay-TV Channels both in Canada and elsewhere. On the other hand, films that had been largely relegated to "Festival" and "Special" screenings via programmes such as "The Showcase Review" are now featured daily by Canada's mainstream broadcast media during the early evening rather than the more obscure late evening hours. That's got to be some progress, although something is sort of lost in it's having become "ordinary".
