There is a blog I am following. It has a title "An Intermittent Blog"

It's written by NW and it is easy to find.

I suggest most strongly that you read it. There is a lot to learn from it. NW can give you the url if he likes.

Some of the history of this was previously posted here at http://forum.iomfats.org/w-agora/index.php?site=forumiomfatsorg&bn=forumiomfatsorg_placeofsafety&key=1259885697&action=view

As an update, the lad and I have got to know each other much better over the past few months. He stayed a night at my place just before his 19th birthday (which was the end of Feb), and has been living here most of the time since then.

Updates on the things I wasn't sure of:
Yes, HIV+ since birth (and I've met his consultant)
Yes, seriously junkie from aged eleven to lst year (and I've met his re-hab consultant and drugs key worker)
Yes, both parents former addicts - and his mother, stepfather and half-sister came over for supper yesterday

We're not lovers, but are rapidly becoming "partners" - at least, that's how he's been introducing me recently, and how I appear on hospital records for the very difficult patch we've had in the past week. As I type, he's still asleep curled up under a blanket on my bed, where he spent the night needing the comfort of someone who cared being next to him.

I'll update the blog later today if I get a chance - unfortunately, broadband is currently down so I'm posting this through a rather poor mobile connection!

the URL is http://www.nickweeks.net/blogging for anyone interested

Yes, NW, thank you for the links. I've gone back and looked at them. I was following your blog last year and then lost the link and never found time and effort to get in touch again. When Timmy mentioned "An Intermittent Blog" I searched for it and couldn't find it.

I'm ashamed of that as I think I'd only have to ask.

You and Warren are amazing. I do admire you.

Love,
Anthony

I found Nicks blog because he posted the URL for us. I read some stuff there and I think Nick must be a totally awesome person to care for somebody like that.

When I read stuff like that it makes me glad I have the awesome parents I have. They can be weird sometimes and go off about weird stuff but I cant even imagine what it must be like for some guys my age. Like they are doomed from the getgo.

I found it hard to imagine, too - and I think I'm pretty aware of the nasty underside of life in our big cities.

I'm simply doing what I can, and what I must, for just one lad out of hundreds here in London. I don't know why it's this one in particular, but that's how it goes.

Off for my TB test shortly - I'm scared. But when I woke terrified in the night, the lad put his arm round me ... the caring goes both ways.

Perhaps you all are reading NW's blog. If you are not, please may I suggest that you do. I think he is under substantial stress right now and a smile or a nod, or a simple acknowledgement meant with sincerity would be wholly appropriate. You can leave a comment ion his blog easily.
