Seems, with the web, there's a whole new paradigm for achieving stardom.
This kid's got 1.3 million hits on his song recording at this time. I don't care for the song much...and there are some slips in his voice, but overall, I think he has talent.

Well, he can play the piano some and sing some, and looks pleasant. But he is no huge talent.

Oh he definitely has work to do. And a professional recording studio could make him sound better. But you just got to appreciate his chutspah to go for it at such a tender age. He's definitely trying and 1.3 million views ain't bad. You aren't going to get that by having Aunt Sophie call all her friends and have them tune in.

Its the Justin Bieber syndrome at work. Ever since that Canadian 16 year old made it big everyone sees posting on YouTube as their shot at fame.

Can't blame the boy for trying, he does have talent and with the proper direction might just take that talent somewhere. As for all the comments, they are a bit overblown...give him something to look for as he grows up.

I would say that he has competence.Talent is something very different.

Hammering on a piano and yammering out a song is Karaoke plus playing the instrument. There was no musicality in the act. It was simply cutesy. And it would not have even been that if he had not been easy on the eye.

Real musical talent is a very different kettle of fish.

It was a pleasing video, but he's not even as good as Liberace.

Pleasant looking boy - worth cultivating for that reason.

I may have said before, I worked in theatre for many years. As a teenager I was employed at a summer stock theatre, touring shows and night club acts, loads of fun.

Liberace spent a week there, circa 1974-75, and what a showman he was. His performance was a mixture of humor and wonderful piano work. I think he'd be an inspiration to any young musician. He gave me such a positive image of a gay man Smile

But there were many young musicians touring in those days. Johnny, the 16 year old fiddle player who toured with Glen Campbell, simply divine to look at and an awesome musician surrounded by talented adults.

Mike Neil, who toured with the musical revival of "1776" and played the messinger to Congress. Just 17, a sweet face, and he sold his one and only song with such confidence and emotion he had the audience crying in their seats.

So this little lad with his horrible Lady GaGa song is still too young to appreciate what it means to be a musician, the practice and dedication I've seen in so many young and talented individuals. But as a handsome creature he will be popular in school, and at that age what else is important?

And in today's news... Mr. Greyson Michael Chance appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show and aquitted himself quite well, lucky brat. And a very attractive one at that:

He acquits himself very well. He has charisma and stage presence. I haven't a clue how he has become so popular on Youtube, though.

OK let's say Timmy has grown the largest cucumber in the town, maybe even the country. Cucumbers are wonderful vegetables, they have lots of fans. Timmy posts a video of himself growing and caring for his cucumber and everyone is curious. Next thing you know a million hits on his YouTube video and television people, with nothing better to do, call him up and invite him on their program. Instant celebrity, and all because of a cucumber.

Good luck with that garden, Timmy. ;-D

And the number of hits Timmy gets would depend on just what he is doing with his cucumber

That's right Aussie. And if he displayed enough charisma and stage presence with his cucumber, he might be invited on the Ellen Degenerus show too.;-D

Far be it for me to say so but I don't think Timmy is that degenerate.

If I got lucky and became famous for a few minutes because of my cucumbers that is ok, but I have no particular cucumber talent.

This lad got lucky. That's fine. He has an Ok voice and an adequate if heavy piano technique. In the current cult of celebrity he will doubtless make some money. Had be been ugly that would be unlikely.

I'm sure he's a delight to know, too. And that his family is proud of him.

But none of this means he has real talent. He is like many twelve year olds except that he got lucky.

As for me and my cucumbers, I may get lucky, too, if I exhibit them on Youtube. But it's not likely.

Then like most of us, Timmy...when the garden gives you outstanding cucumbers you make salad and forget the fame. Smile

OK...one more and I drop the subject.

I think most would agree, the only thing driving this is the smell of money and I can only hope the boy gets a fair chance to live a normal life...but I doubt it.

Now we know why he wears his hair long. Did you see those ears when they showed him singing at 6 or 7?

I could see pride mixed with concern in the parents' faces. Looks like the father has been telling him to keep his head throughout all this. Probably a good idea. I'd hate to see the kid get messed up by the by the "Hollywood WOW Machine".

Big ears are the least of his problems, Max...he could end up on a website like this...poor Justin.
