The Catholic Church of Italy (read that as the Vatican who won't take credit) is urging gay priests to come out of the closet and resign rather than leading a double life.
I had to laugh at the following statement: "It (the Diocease of Rome) insisted that the vast majority of Rome's 1,300 priests were truthful to their vocations and were "models of morality for all."
Yeah, that's why the age of consent in the Vatican State is 12. Is that considered a moral statement? (I must add, this applies to females only, as if that would make it any better at this age)

"No one knows the exact number of gays in the priesthood. Estimates of the number of gays in U.S. seminaries and the priesthood range from 25 percent to 50 percent, according to a review of research by the Rev. Donald Cozzens, an author of "The Changing Face of the Priesthood."
Oops, yeah all you guys resign, go ahead...churches are large enough for a community basketball court and that would put them to better use.

I think it would be a dangerous precident to set if the law is changed. No matter what I think of the Pope, he is a sitting head of state of a foreign nation. I imagine your courts would find the law invalid for that reason no matter what the radical elements in the UK might wish.
The United Nations holds forth on American soil, a shame really, I'd love to see them booted out. The whole organization isn't worth a bucket of s**t for what they cost. Since the end of WWII they have done niothing but sit by and witness the genocide in the Slavic countries and Africa. Totally useless.

.. the atrocities committed by the few; and I certainly cannot ever condone The Vatican's self-righteous intractability in addressing the issues surrounding this travesty; or Cardinal Joseph Alois Ratzinger's apparent complicity in its' wholesale cover-up and the outright fraud and misrepresentation of the paedophilia crisis within the church perpetrated upon the World; we SHOULD NOT, and CANNOT, ever lose sight of the reality that the incidence of paedophiles (either heterosexual or homosexual) amongst the clergy in general, and in particular the priesthood, is likely not that much different percentage-wise than that which occurs naturally within the secular population as a whole, this not-with-standing however higher in proportion the actual incidence of practicing, and otherwise, homosexual priests in general.
To do otherwise is tantamount to tarring an entire "avocation" with the very same brush that the heterosexual community at large has been afflicting the homosexual community with for generations; we SHOULD, and CAN, rise above our stooping to the inadequacies of the basest common denominator.
