I know this is a forum involving gay, bi-sexual and...well, I wonder about some of you But I never see any positive lesbian news here and they are a part of the greater homosexual community, they deserve some note.
I'm unsure if those of you in the UK have ever seen Roseanne, the television show touted twenty years ago as a love story about a disfunctional family. It was a chance for Roseanne Barr to place her considerable bulk and acidic humor in front of the American public. She did her thing and I wasn't that impressed.
But other cast members did catch my attention. John Goodman, a versitile actor who was hugely overweight and recently dropped all those pounds to look really good (and probably save his life). His acting in films endeared him to me. The evil salesman in Barton Fink comes to mind, he was the devil personified.
And so we come to Sara Gilbert who played one of the daughters with style and grace, a real tomboy, a good actress. And a lesbian it seems, she just came out of her invisible closet. I imagine the lesbian community has known about her for ages.
I am not a Hollywood or gossip follower. Although Roseanne played the role of a married straight dyke type on her show, I always though there were some really sweet lesbian characteristics in Sara's character...and I was right.
In real life she has a partner and kids that have been kept put of the public eye, good for her. Thanks for stepping forward Sara, the LGBT community needs role models like you. News story follows at this link:
