I first saw this article in Pink News and though "wind up", but the more I read it the more I see the value.
http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2010/08/02/first-gay-condom-for-india/ has the full article.
Now I know, of course, that spermicide is not required for anal with a chap (though it is for a lady in case of spillage), and I know that the condom needs to be tougher for anal use because of the extra compression (if you are unaware of this check out gay porn where condoms are used). and I know that different sizes are important for chaps with slimmer or fatter todgers. What I had no knowledge of was discomfort during sex because of a heterosexual condom.
I was going to suggest someone could fill us in, but the metaphor went to hell in a handbasket!
Most of us are anal virgins in either role. Does anyone care to share what knowledge they have on the matter?

Whilst I wouldn't care to share any knowledge I might have on the merits of any particular, and suitable, condom and it's application during anal sex; I can't say that I'm at all surprised to learn India may be at the forefront of next-generation condom-design.
It was some 40-years, or more, ago that India created a World-wide controversy with their nation-wide introduction of the "Pink Triangle Programme"; a concept that remove all perceived embarrassment (and language and religious barriers) from requesting and purchasing contraceptive devices, in particular condoms, from their local chemists.
The programme as it was designed, facilitated the delivery of contraceptive media based on gender, through the ease of an individual (regardless of age) only having to ask for "A Pink Triangle"; if male they received condoms, if female they received birth-control pills; both receiving "in place" instruction on their application and use, each and every time upon delivery. Admittedly the programme was introduced in an attempt to help curb the then spiraling birth-rate, especially amongst the under-educated and impoverished populace; but, I'm sure it too must have contributed to reductions in the prevailing sexually-transmited diseases of the time.
Information about the programme, and the availability of product, were promulgated and widely disseminated through the use of non-sectarian and language-free Billboards and through similarly styled pamphlets and flyers distributed through government agencies, community centres, health-care facilities and the like. They even issued a series of "postage" stamps, one each year, for the better part of ten-years or more, to aid in the cause.

How to put this delicately...
The female of the species generally provides a self lubricating recepticle as the excitement builds, although in some cases that fails to happen and an external lubricant is necessary. But this speaks to vaginal sex.
Sexual congess with a male requires external lubrication for the most part, so I can see the Indian condom as a much needed addition. In every situation the moment of applying the condom tends to stall progress in the passion department but is most necessary. Lubrication in a bottle or tube can be quite messy.
In rare instances I have encountered men who seem to self lubricate, even in the anal passages. I have no understanding of why this happens. I am sure we all know that the male glands often supply a clear lubricant issuing from the penis we generally refer to as pre-cum during moments of aroused passion. Handy though it may be it is insufficent to assure proper lubrication during anal sex.
So lots of lube for anal sex, gets messy, but is necessary for the activity to proceed comfortably. Must chose the right lubricant for use with a latex condom, some of them degrade the latex and water based works best for cleanup.
Some sex manuals recommend a drop of lubricant on the head of the penis before applying the condom, it's suppose to assure a better time. It also might assure the damn thing slides off during sex so be careful. All these things can be tried out during masturbation to see how they work.
I think any teenager knows how a condom works. I know for myself I used to enjoy asking the young lady behind the pharmacy counter where the condoms were, I was such a bad boy. ;-D

Off slippage is usually due to incorrect sizing. Slim equipment needs a slim overcoat
Splittage is more awkward. There are several main reasons:- The condom is too tight for the penis
- Insufficient care was taken in opening the packet and the condom was snagged by fingernails or teeth
- Oil based lube ruins latex condoms faster than you can say "Come again?"
Teenagers get hellish confused, if a UK real TV sex ed show shown a couple of days ago is typical. About 50 teenagers, boys and girls, were more than a little imperfect.
Typical errors were ripping the condom while opening the packet, and trying to unroll the thing against the way of the roll. One thought it was Ok to remove it and re-apply it, little realising that the old inside became the outside, thus transferring seminal fluid and infective agents to the new outside.
