I'm not the unseen Moderator here; nor frankly would I have wanted the position had I been asked to assume it; but, it does not take rocket science to see that a very few are endangering the whole in this enterprise that we've collectively come to call our home.
The last time I've spoken out like this was some 6- or 7-years ago when a similar flame-war arose within the ranks of regulars here at A Place Of Safety. I was severely ostracized for having done so, which in turn led to my leaving the Forum entirely for a goodly number of Months, and then only returning under "that" other soubriquet that I referred to in another thread recently once saner heads had prevailed. The Forum was never the same after, and likely this time it will not survive it at all.
WHAT PURPOSE IS TRULY BEING SERVED HERE in destroying all that Timmy has over the years worked so damn hard to create, and preserve?
All of you go away. Come back in a few weeks time. Come back quietly, and in a more receptive mood reflecting Member conciliation and cooperation; but, do not come back if you are only going to behave as you have before.
I know whereof I speak here. I've once had to do this, and now apparently so shall you.

I agree, Warren...I think it is time for a collective TIME OUT from posting, and I can speak for myself on this.
This has become a month of sniping unworthy of intelligent people. I will not choose sides as I respect everyone here has an opinion and often states it badly to the offense of others.
Are we angry, yes we are. There are many issues that affect us all and we are not handling the discussion very well. There are few immediate solutions to global challenges on the gay front and everyone on that subject seems overwrought. Including myself in that one.
Lets get this clear, there are no universal answers here on the forum, that is not the purpose of this place. No one person here can solve all the problems of the gay community. The point I see is that we should be calling attention to the issues, sharing ideas, and if possible offering contact information that will get us to those who can change the tide of current events. If that is considered "campaigning" then so be it. It serves the community good.
This war of words thrown like rocks at one another needs to stop. Is it so important that we must fall to the level of school children fighting it out during recess? I often think that some of you didn't get your nap time and must be cranky.
The best thing to do at this point is to back down, stop, and think. In business one often manages others and if they do a task poorly then management needs to evaluate the situation. To do that properly the first question to ask is was the task explained well, were the instructions sufficient to the task? Only then should the person performing the work be reprimanded if they did not meet the well explained goals of management.
So I ask you all, what is it that Timmy has failed to explain about his purpose for this forum? Not much I gather, the archive is full of his wants and desires for this place.
Anyone here is free to go off and start a site, a forum for their views and their's alone. This is Timmy's "Place of Safety" and we all do him a discourtesy by not abiding by his design. Please think about this before responding, if you care to comment at all.
Chris James will be off the forum for some bit of time, I need to go back and play author for a while.

Even Tim being militantly polite with them didn't stop their devious and snide ad hominem attacks every-time I posted what I found to be worthwhile Warren. Its is a quartet of 4 elderly Englishmen who seem to feel that the only opinions worth value are theirs and that the proprietary posts should be British viewpoints. After all Warren, we colonials have no value apparently in their small minded world.
Yeah I am referring to these four:[NW, NIGEL, ACAM, & COSSIE.]

They are insufferable and uncompromising and as far as I am now concerned the lot of them can sod off.

Call me. My land-line is listed in the Metropolitan Toronto Telephone directory under my full name; no address given, simply my name. The only one of that style, so it cannot ever be mistaken.
I tried to locate a number for you rather than have you have you make that call; but, the Google web-phone link on the web-site apparently won't work from Canada, and I failed to find a land-line listed anywhere either Corporate or Personal in the Washington D. C. area. Press "1" at the prompt and leave a fixed- or cell-line phone number that you can be reached at. The number you reach is my VMS. No inbound calls are permitted at that number. It neither rings in my home, nor is physically located there. It is simply a convenience provided me by Bell Canada on their Servers. The number I return the call from, and I will unblock it's identity for that one call only, is the true physical location number. I will return that call.
We really need to talk about this, you and I.
We need to hear the tone of one anothers' voice. We need to be able to feel the context of what we are saying to each other, and to the others here before we again put pen to paper regarding this topic. e-Mail just doesn't cut it; anymore than our discourse through the medium of this Forum.
We need to personalize the context of our dialogue enabling both us to be completely frank with one another, with no mistakes.

I will vanish at some point during the evening. I will return at some point in the weekend and will see what havoc has been wrought. I have few decisions to make at that point. Some will be approved of, some will be disliked. I may lose friends over it, or may have lost them already.

You see, the thing I view as "The Greater Good" is not happening here. And I think letting the gloves come off is a most excellent way of illustrating it.
People seem to think that I am really nice, but mistake that for weakness. I tend to be extremely polite, but I am by no means weak. And I am no pushover.
