The OTHER onerous attribute to this ass-clown claiming that 'GOD' cures your ills is according to a producer I spoke to at Inside Edition, this 'Reverend' also claims he can 'pray the Gay'from a person. Rev. Peter Popoff has returned to Christian television, selling "miracle water" and "sacred salt" to the tune of $23M a year.
Some of you may recall twenty years ago when James Randi exposed Popoff as a fraud, using a hidden earpiece connected to his wife to "reveal" to his audience what God was telling him about their personal lives.

I suppose I'm not particularly sympathetic. He only does on a small scale what big established churches do on a large scale. And the gullible seem to enjoy giving money by tithing.
I suppose, like L Ron Hubbard, I should start a church if I want to get rich.
While it's reasonable to expose charlatans I'm not sure that this story is relevant here. We're not snopes.

Why, Timmy...don't you see the humor in this?
This guy is much like your favorite Vatican dweller, that man and his friends are the original fake religious artifact sellers. Even today people claim to have a cross or crucifix with a piece of the True Cross in it when it is more likely to be a splinter off an old telephone pole.
Religious idolitry is railed against in the Bible, remember the Golden Calf? But churches are built to hold relics from saints which are worshiped, all of it under the approval of the guy in the Vatican. I understand rosary beads blessed by the Pope sell very well for quite a sum in Rome.
So what's a little "miracle water" and "sacred salt"? 23 million is petty cash for the Vatican dweller and his minions. It all proves that humans haven't evolved quite enough yet. I doubt if a monkey would waste his money on such things, ;-D
As for starting a church...I think I have a Golden Chicken in the back room, I'll check for you.

Age appears to be best in four things; old wood best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read. (Sir Francis Bacon 1561-1626)

The real problem is that it isn't actually funny. It is just a miniature version of established churches. I see irony in people finding this asswipe a charlatan and that other, bigger asswipes like Canterbury and Rome are establishment figures.
Thank you Brody. Like the man said, the "Reverend's" profession is flimflam. But the definition of Christianity was priceless; and makes perfect sense. LOL

I think educational beaurocratic systems and religious organizations are of the same cloth: money driven, out of touch, male dominated, couldn't care less philosophy driven and pass the loot mental. I'll be losing another $1000 per month within a year while the administrators of my school district will be patting themselves on the back for saving the school district from the teachers.
