All the fuss about the little US lad who is a cheerleader. And here we have a documentary about a tough part of South Leeds in the UK and a team of boys who are cheerleaders.

Formed on a South Leeds estate in 2009, DAZL Diamonds are a boys cheerleading troupe made up of lads between the ages of 8 and 13. This is as much a story of role models and aspiration as a document of gender contradiction though. A touch of backstory reveals that many of these lads are from single parent families and although a couple of the mums lament their own misspent youth, they encourage their kids to grab this opportunity with both pom-pom laden hands.
The lads are ordinary kids. Very ordinary.
