HERE'S A GREAT IDEA FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
FIRST OF ALL - DO NOT GIVE TO THE SALVATION ARMY, UNLESS ITS A QUEER DOLLAR.
CRZY HOUSE Queer Dollar Campaign

QUEER DOLLARS
GIVE TO GAY YOUTH INSTEAD!
(From John at the gay advocacy)
Well, this year I can't think of anyone more deserving than gay youth and their straight allies. And in particular,
Give donations to the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) of Boyd County High School in Ashland, Kentucky.
As you may recall, thousands of anti-gay activists were protesting Boyd High because the school gave a group of students permission to form a gay-straight alliance. The recent protests have been nasty (all about saving their children from the evil homosexuals), and at one point half the students of the school refused to show up for class to protest the new gay-tolerance group (if anything proved the need for the GSA, it was that).
And it was no big surprise that the protests were organized by a local religious right "family" group and national anti-gay activists, including one gentleman from California who promotes the theory that gays were behind the Holocaust.
Fortunately, the ACLU is on the case, and the GSA is still being allowed to exist - though the anti-gay groups are now proposing that the school compensate them by including as part of the curriculum courses on tolerance that include the teaching that homosexuality is wrong,
and worse, the school isn't allowing the group to fundraise, something that other student groups are permitted to do. Yep, that's tolerance alright.
I recently spoke with Jeff Vessels, the head of the ACLU in Kentucky, and suggested to him that I might be able to raise some money for the Boyd High GSA. Jeff spoke to the GSA for me, and they asked him to let you all know that they would be honored to accept financial gifts to support the club - money that they would use for field trips, such as attending regional or national conferences where they could find support for their pro-tolerance work.
So, in lieu of giving money to the Salvation Army this year - or even if you weren't going to give to them anyway - please consider making a donation to help the kids at Boyd High in Ashland, Kentucky with their gay-straight alliance. You can donate online with a major credit card

(If that link doesn't work, you can make online donations via this Web page:

Or you can write checks to Kaye King, the sponsor of the Boyd High GSA, and mail them to my PO Box (I'll then forward them all at once - that way we can keep track of how much gets sent, as I thought you'd all like to know).
All the money is going to be forwarded to the kids, don't worry. This is the address for my PO Box:

And here are a few articles you can read about the controversy over the GSA at Boyd High. Trust me, some of the quotes from the bad guys will curdle your blood:
