I can't tell whether I would have come out earlier than I did (48!) because I lived in a threatening home environment, but I know I would have been less afraid if there had been enough others around me. I've often wondered if I might have met a boy who would love me in that environment.

Frankly, we think such laws are silly. They do young people more harm than good. How can you possibly ask questions on a gay forum without coming out to your parents if you need consent?
