Dear Pat,

I expect I will be told off if I start a religious argument on here, but I do think that the words liberal and roman catholic are almost mutually exclusive.

There are few churches and certainly not the roman catholic one that would not disapprove of A Place of Safety and that is another reason to disapprove of them.

And I think what they teach about morality is wrong, especially about sexual morality. And that is a good reason to reject what they say and to follow what your conscience says instead.

Love,
Anthony

Anthony said mutually exclusive, but a better example of an oxymoron doesn't exist! Liberal Roman Catholic. ROFLMAO. None of the ones I know are even moderate much less liberal.

It's only going to get worse not that there's a genuine Nazi as His Poopiness the Hole.

Why on earth should you be told off? We have had lots of religious (and anti-religious) discussions here over the years. Some of them have been interesting.

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)

I would never believe the Roman Catholic Church could ever be liberal but some not many individuals may be very liberal or slightly liberal that would not include everyone in power.

Well just watch the news...

You hear about liberal catholicks all the time...

Every time an alter boy complains about the licking...

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Michael in order:
1. The people who make themselves overly important are called Hypocrites when they start condemning others without very good reason and calling someone a "moral" person will not make them one.

2. Don't really know what to say to that one right now.

3. Yes the means of the Democrats and Republicans are very similar. Their political goals are exactly the same. Their social goals are polar opposites.

4. No desire to discuss voter fraud now.

5. The Democrats had no chance of ending the wars with only 51 senators (60 required to break a filibuster, 66-67 required to override presidential veto 2/3 of the House required too, Supreme Court 4 conservatives 4 liberals one libertarian, and perhaps the most disturbing thing highly right wing President who can't even be impeached by the House because of no possibility of conviction by the Senate who no one listens to anymore and isn't going to end the wars anyway. If the wars are going to end we need a Democratic (Liberal) president and Congress.

6. Is the question rhetorical? Most people do not want to see those they care for suffering. Those they hate some could care less or even enjoy watching people die.

7. True we only deserve to live if we treat people how we want to be treated without demeaning ourselves in the process. Those who oppose us may not believe that though. Which does make their arguments objectionable in merit.

8. Completely agree.

9. It is not possible to deal with people on a one on one basis for every single act we end up committing. No matter how it could affect the personality of the person involved. I agree we should try as often as we can. We can't afford to treat all citizens as individuals on an extremely large scale we don't have the resources or time to do so. It is easy for a person to loose himself or herself in the expansive information of our lifetime. Yes, there are certain standards we can all attempt to live up to in an attempt to create peace and love and maybe hope.

10. Did you look through the entire site? it is extensive thats for sure.

I take offense to the way the word "liberal" is used on that site.

"Social democrat" is more applicable.

To say a socialist policy of taking from the "haves" and giving to the "have nots" is liberal is like saying strict gun laws are liberal. Neither policy favours freedom. I'm not objecting against either policy on utilitarian grounds (I'd rather not get into that), but socialism and state control of wealth, while a social good at times is never liberal. And most of the times its not even a social good.
