Haven't heard a peep from him in months. I thought I'd said something stupid and he didn't want to speak to me anymore. Then I logged in on the MSN thingy and there he was...

I asked a quiet hello and soon found out he wasn't angry at all. In fact he thought HE was the one to blame. We then chatted for a long time, and only stopped because he'd been up all night and needed sleep.

So, in all a most excellent surprise for me...

Interested in knowing what your REAL religion is? Smile Please try this survey, and report your result here!

http://www.selectsmart.com/RELIGION/

I am adhering to Secular Humanism by 100% it seems. I agree with that result, so the survey seems to be working!

I also match Theravada Buddhism to 67% and Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants 50%. I am only 30% Scientologist. Smile

I am ZERO percent: Hindu, Muslim, Jehovah's Witness, Orthodox Judaist or Roman Catholic.

Thank god for that! Very Happy

Lenny! Hello and thanks for this interesting link! I was a bit surprised at my results...

1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Neo-Pagan (98%)
3. New Age (93%)
4. Liberal Quakers (93%)
5. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (85%)
6. New Thought (83%)
7. Scientology (83%)
8. Secular Humanism (79%)
9. Reform Judaism (75%)
10. Mahayana Buddhism (73%)
11. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (68%)
12. Taoism (65%)
13. Theravada Buddhism (62%)

The reason I was a bit surprised is that I tend to identify myself with Buddhist thinking, but others came out "on top" on my listing. I knew I liked the Unitarian-Universalists and the Liberal Quakers for lots of reasons, but didn't know I WAS one, so to speak. I have no idea what Neo-Pagans are, and tend to think lots of New Age stuff is silly. And isn't Scientology that strange L. Ron Hubbard Science Fiction-y group? (Sorry if there are any readers I just labelled as weird...I tend to think that ALL religions are pretty wierd and wacky, which is why I find them interesting!!)

Interesting that they listed both major Buddhist groups...One is more numerous, and includes the Dalai Lama. The other is called the "Lesser Vehicle" cuz it's smaller in number and stresses rituals less, and is what most Thai people...including my partner...are.

Ultimately of course, a person's faith is his own, even if he or she has none. No matter what labels society or anyone else wants to apply to us. But these kind of surveys are interesting in a way that they're done in a dry, statistical manner; since it is a machine computing the answers there's no room for human bias or other emotional interference. By looking strictly at what a particular faith preaches and setting up rules and criteria to define the faith, we get a very scientific answer to a very non-scientific matter. And that in itself makes it insteresting, at least in my opinion! Smile

Hey smith, would you please take the test also please? Curious!

I am in favour of blood transfusions. Bye bye Jehovah's witnesses.

I am in favour of doctors. Bye bye Christian Scientists.

I am wholly suspicious of L Ron Hubbard and his cult of scientology. I know more than you might think about L Ron. I know the lady who was his secretary when he was in London. It is not to may "taste". Beware. So that gets rid of that lot.

The real question is "How was this naive survey created?". I answered it for fun. If I were to take it seriously I would be barking mad!

No idea what it all means... if anything. Myself, I have trouble believing in the Crhistian God (I belong to Lutheran church, mainly because my parents had me baptised and I haven't resigned (not the right word, but...)), because of all the suffering in the world... How can there be an All-Mighty, All-Knowing God who lets kids be abused, people tortured etc.? And if there is, I get the feeling it is a god I don't want to know...

... I was pointed in this direction for another reason entirely early this afternoon (the "masked Lurker commentaries), and felt I had to contribute my results to this one, just like everyone else, for whatever their worth.

Seems to me the only one straight on, would be that of our elder statesman "Steve".

26. Eastern Orthodox (30%)
27. Roman Catholic (30%)

2. Liberal Quakers (95%)

Hmmmmmmmh. My forebearers would be proud, with many an Erasmus, Ezekiel, Jedadiah, Jeramiah, ad nauseum amongst them, going back far too many generations to want to count.

18. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (59%)

My late lover would probably be amused to learn that so much of him rubbed off on me, and apparently still remains.

27. Roman Catholic (30%)

My Mother and her family would be aghast at this one. After all it was the "one" in which I was baptized and later "confirmed".

Definitely an eye-opener Lenny.
