We have a technical issue. What you may not know is that the site is in an experimental server, and the web host is gradually tuning it to make it work really well. Sometimes this blanks out parts of our site. And it can happen without warning. Please be patient.

Last night (about 10 hours ago) I was unable to reply to posts, or also to use the "Next" or "Back to Index" buttons. I got a message saying "forbidden access to this site" and something about "anyboard/cgi/bin, or something like that. But I was able to view all posts and replies by using the back button and lots of going back and forth.

Seems to be working again now tho...

This is the reply I tried to make on the "married life" thread, replying to "e's" comment...it refused to post my reply...came up saying "forbidden"...

I agree, with you "e"...it couldn't possibly be that bad...but smith, friend, be sure not to be trapped by one of those females who like to accompany you here and there in your current situation...(unless you happen to fall madly in love or something like that...)

Even in long term male couples, some of that is likely, just cuz nobody is permanently in the mood, permanently feeling available. I laughed out loud at the line about the poor guy getting cramps in his toes...

I talked to a gay couple yesterday who came with a sex problem to discuss. Kind of a classic problem, as anybody with their lover for longer than the initial honeymoon period can attest. One of them likes to have sex more often than the other one, and feels frustrated. The other one likes sex just fine, but feels a lot of pressure to do it more often than he would otherwise, just to make his partner happy.

I asked the logical question, "How much would be enough?" The "more often" guy would like it every day but would be "make do" with every other day. The "less often guy" would be happier with once or twice per week. These guys are in their thirties and have been together 7 or 8 years, something like that. So we'll be having some more discussions about it, and I'll encourage them to focus on quality more than quantity...how to show love and connection other than in bed...just the common sense stuff.

I also recall a group of gay adolescents I once facilitated in New York City. These were 13-15 average urban gay kids, some experienced, some not, some with boyfriends, some not yet, some rich, some from the suburbs, some street youth. They once had a discussion about "levels of horniness", promiscuity, and such.

The conclusion they reached that day was really funny. Somebody was considered promiscuious if they had more sex than YOU had had...and was considered a "slut" if they wanted more sex than you did...One very cute 14 year old virgin from the 'burbs made a comment something like, "Jeez, guys, is sex really worth all this bother?" The unanymous reply shook the rafters: "YES!!" hehehe

For the next few days I am unable to administer the board except by crude physical file deletion. So if you post something in haste that you will later regret, you are stuffed!

I love British slang! Is that a *bad* thing, timmy, or is it equivalent to "screwed" as we yanks would say?

A very nice fellow from South Africa used to work with me who used this expression a lot - he was a network engineer if that helps you understand - but I never had the courage to ask, especially since I "fancied" him a bit.

Nonsense--When we americans departed for the promised land,we managed to take with us intelligent life and that left all others pissed.Simply put,the vast inventiveness of American minds reinvented slang. All others are a bunch of copycats. rob

As long as you are willing to ship them for free, I suggest that you send them to Antarctica and tell them that cold day in Hell has finally arrived and that is where they will be spending Eternity.

I'd rather they not be sent to Antartica- I want to go a holiday there sometime, they'd prove a most unpleasant distraction from the native wildlife.

...So of course I'm piling them all in one big basket, in a playful way of course Smile. I must say I've met a few online in my time but after they were condemning homosexuality then going off to look at porn I sort of lost hope. I know there are exceptions with any group and that some Southern Baptists might actually prove more pleasant conversation than the penguins, but this topic as far as I could tell has turned somewhat humourous so no offense should be taken.

Really getting into it

Surly you only meant the hateful bigoted people, but anytime we use a label for a group of people, there will be exceptions, even more so when based on a stereotype. How many gay stereotypes are wrong as often as they are right, for example?

Also, even if we can guess what you really meant, we have a (thankfully) diverse group here, so almost any group you pick to insult could be offending someone here - not that it would be any "nicer" if they weren't here to notice.

I was recently seriously upset with a very vocal bunch who were making pretty hateful comments about "Christians" (a pretty broad brush, really) and (ironically) implying that they are all bigots.

Actually, "they" are here to take notice and even though "they" don't ever take part in any other bashings, it would be nicer if we let this one drop. There's good and bad everywhere you look.....let's don't make a joke out of anyone's beliefs until we walk in their shoes. I don't have enough warm clothes for the Arctic and I don't think I can use my skateboard there Sad

is that they are so insubstantial. Labels don't actually mean a whole lot so by insult a label really I feel I'm insulting nothingness. I know when someone insults a label that we associate with ourselves we have a tendancy to take it personally, the if someone were to throw insults a bunch of labels all of which we associated with ourselves it does have the potential to hurt even when it isn't meant.

Personally while the nature of certain groups can irk me, I never judge an individual based on them belonging to a certain group. I think I speak for all of us when I say that you seem to lack all the negative traits that we perceive in the Southern Baptist groups, smith. I don't know if this makes you feel better- but I know with my jokes they have been directed towards stereotypes- stereotypes that in reality probably don't exist and that in reality definately don't apply to each and every case. If things went too far I apologise. Hopefully you can understand that I didn't mean insult. I can be a mean, annoying little prick most of the time, though, even though it isn't intentional.
