Okay, so she is an icon of early gay culture and liberation; and quite probably her death is what inspired the Stonewall riots. I'd just like to ask- why?

Look at this tree. I cannot make it blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time [...] No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.

I suppose that most people my age just watch 'The Wizard of Oz' and see a really outdated cartoonish movie, but for me, it always made me happy to know that someone could find the truth of what they need to be happy inside themselves. The song Over The Rainbow just means that to me. I don't know too much more about Judy Garland than that one song but when I hear her sing it, it makes me cry.

I've read that she was very fragile and very open to anyone with differences. I know that "Friends of Dorothy" was a way for gay people to identify each other during times when they were afraid. I guess Dorothy represented people who felt lost and just wanted to feel safe.

The words to Over The Rainbow were written to give me hope, at least I use them that way:

Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly........
Dreams that you dare to dream really do come true....
Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me.....
Birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can't I?.....

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...
