He is worth £800 million pounds approx.
His roots were in liverpool where he lived in a council house.
If you had that wealth and your children were also very wealthy, would you not give away a large chunk of your wealth.
His age is 65 and could pop off any time, god forbid.
The reason for this post is that i watched the national news and there was a child that had a brain cancer, it could not be treated in Britain, so they had to raise £500,000 for him to be treated in the states which had a specialist hospital.
It made me think that money is no good when you are dead and that people should not be greedy, with millions in the bank.
I am not saying that Mc Cartney does not support charities, but most celebs give for tax reasons.

Why on earth should he give his money to anyone who just happens to be suffering from something?
Brain cancer today, ingrowing toenail tomorrow.
If I earn a bit of cash does that mean I have to give it away, too? Or is it just because he's got a bob or two?
He didn't get wealthy by hurting anyone, except with his music, that is. And, on the way he created wealth for loads of people. Everyone who sold a record of his in a music store benefited a little.

Its not selfish. Its like Bill Gates. His foundation gives away billions of dollars, but you dont hear about that. They want him to give away his last dime and live on the streets. He worked to earn that money and it is his, free to do with as he pleases. There are organizations that can help the child if someone applies to them. St. Judes would have flown the boy here for treatment (I assume thats probably where he is going). Judging someone on how much they give away is very unfair and petty. Most of it is envey. The man made his money. He didnt hurt anyone or cheat anyone. Im almost sure he has a foundation that would have given money if they had patitioned them. Why did they need so much money? The plain ticket to here is only 1500.00 dollars. You can bet somebody had thier hand in that kitty.

Missed the point? No. I think not. But I think you may have totally missed the point of this messageboard.

Do not use block capitals. They are poor netiquette and signify shouting.
Please not not behave like a troll. I have spoken to you about this behaviour by email. Now I am doing it here, in public.

Philanthropy is a difficult subject especially when it is someone elses money being discussed.
Whatever the need there is always a source of succor in a time of crisis.
To point a finger and postulate over the give and take of contributiions to charity the best thing to do is to point that finger at yourself first.
Some people give cash by the boatload and some give a dime to a collection box at a local convenient store. Some people volunteer time to a place in need of manpower.
Is one any less charitable than the other?
No....... We all, each and every one of us do what we can and as we see fit.
No one is right.... No one is wrong.... All we all are is able and ready to do what we can then the need is there.
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Jack, you may stay or go. I am not concerned one way or the other. But your troll-like posts must cease. Please take this as a formal warning that this behaviour is to cease.
The board is, in general, for our helping each other with the various issues we all have. Looking at your posts I see that you have chosen "amusing discussion topics" instead. This has angered many, all of whom I have asked to be patient.
I explained much of this to you by email some time ago.

To quote the late John Lennon (in "The Ballad of John and Yoko"):
Saving up your money for a rainy day,
Giving all your clothes to charity.
Last night, the wife said, "Oh boy, when you're dead
you don't take nothing with you but your soul."
THINK!
...
Christ! You know it ain't easy.
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are goin',
They're gonna crucify me!
(Those caps, by the way, were John Lennon's, not mine.)
We do not remember days...we remember moments.
