Hi everybody.
Recently I have been searching for other forums that unite gay (or bi) people, especially in Central European region (what a surprise)... All those sites seem to be so vulgar. You probably remember the thread about foreskin and the beauty (or ugliness) of uncut penis. The whole topic was quite polite and the discussion cool in comparison to what I came across on other sites.
Do you have such experience or are those rather exceptions?
Is this the only forum with well-behaved posters?

I have a belief that we can discuss even the most controversial topic with simple dignity. That belief extends to all members here; it is one of those truisms that high expectations lead to people achieving and exceeding them.
We can discuss the beauty or otherwise of an anus or a penis in the same way that we can discuss the political situation in China, or whether cyclists in lycra are appropriate and young gymnasts are not. Feelings may run high, but vulgarity is just demeaning.

Thanks to both of you.
Another question came into my mind...
(Please do not see this as boasting)
Due to certain level of education that I reached it is not tough to understand the language spoken here in spite of the fact that English is second language to me.
How likely is it if I say that some people avoid this site merely because of the level of language spoken here?
Long time ago I heard that English is one of those rich languages where you can distinguish whether people are intelligent or not simply by listening to them. Is this true?

Personally, I would say not necessarily so, and I hope no one feels obliged to avoid posting here.
I had a friend some years ago, who I used to converse with at our local pub. He was a member of 'MENSA' and apparently one of their more senior members.
On one occasion I remember him saying that he used to converse with people at their own level as it made them feel more comfortable and sometimes actually prevented bad feeling, by not 'talking down' to them as some did. He reminded me of a certain situation that I found myself in one day.
Since it was a pub inhabited by several Captains, Admirals and briefly one Rear Admiral, one had to watch one's manners at certain times.
I remember going there for a lunchtime snack one day; (I was in uniform and it wasn't far from one of the Navy's shorebases), and a rather rude and abrupt Lieutenant who had just come in, pushed his way in front of me at the bar to get drinks for his his friend and himself. He was stopped dead by a figure dressed in an old leather jacket and scruffy gardening trousers, who calmly said to the owner/barman "John, give the P.O. a pint on my bill will you please?" He waved to a seat opposite him. "Mike, take a pew and give me the latest!".
Naturally the furious Lieutenant demanded to know who the hell he was. He told him thus: "Look laddie, when you find out, it will be when you are facing your commanding officer, who is one of my junior officers."
The Lieutenant and friend left at the rush.
Now, I'm no fancy conversationalist or highly educated person. I did my 'O' Level GCEs and passed English language with a reasonable pass though. Mind you I think I've forgotten most of it in the intervening forty-five years! But I was taught manners by my late mother, (GBH), and so could speak reasonably well to pretty much anyone. I've talked at length with Prince Charles, and the poorest country yokel too, with quite a few others in between, always parting on good terms.
Some of the people on the other forum I frequent, have really severe impediments and difficulties in speech, vision and hearing, and yet we strongly encourage them to say their view. I would hope that we all think like that on here too, and don't 'look down' on anyone of a lesser academic level than any of us.

Never confuse long words and complex sentence constructions nor wide vocabulary with intelligence.
In the UK the best written and hardest newspaper to write is The Sun. It is written in short sentences using short words in order to be widely understood by the less educated folk. To write this takes some of our best wordsmiths. It's really hard to do.
I think what puts folk off here is rudeness, and what attracts them is that we are as we are.

One thing that I have found here that sets this site above the others is the level of intelligence of the posters. Not that anyone is more educated than another but behave with a level of decorum and intelligence not seen on other sites. Any view is welcome here and no one is laughed at or called names. Some here have doctors degrees and some dont, some have a lot of life experience and some are just getting started, but they all have something useful to add to a discussion. Timmy has created a most remarkable site that is heads above the others. Those who are ignorant and just like to cause trouble find that it just doesnt work here.
Another very important thing here: If a young man (boy) comes on line and ask for advice, he is never told to go away or that he is to young. He will get answers, probably more than he asked for, but he will get answers to his questions.
If someone is just lonely, they will find a friend and a family here.

That was what I hoped when I created the forum. 99% of the time it holds good. 1% we can live with.

I don't use any other forums.
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Hi everybody,
I would like to thank you all for your posts on this topic. It has persuaded me that you (we) are remarkable group of people. Therefore I have decide to change my username to my real name, which is Marek (equivalent to English Mark). I would not have taken this step had it been unpleasant experience to talk (write) to you. I thank you this way...
Hugs

As long as you are aware that this forum is picked up by search engines and that you are happy with this, use your real name with pleasure.
