So, I turned 50 yesterday and the world didn't end as I suspected it would. That's a relief. It would really suck sitting here typing this as a corpse. I didn't even shed a tear as I did when I turned 40. I was surrounded by more family and friends than I thought would even care, and it turned into a very nice day although getting a strawberry flavored condom as a gift from my brother in law was kinda creepy *smirk*.
2010 was overall one of the crappiest years of my life. Today is the last day of it. Whew!... I made it. 2011 can only be better, I hope.
To everyone here who listened to my ramblings and supported me in 2010, thank you so much my friends.
Happy New Year and all the best wishes to all!

Only 50? May you have 50 more and a Happy Birthday to you.
My father is 91, he says the first 91 are the hardest and he figures the next 91 will be easier. Let's hope he is right, and to cheer you on I attach this poem he wrote last year for his 90th birthday:
When the party’s over,
When old friends drift away,
When silence enfolds me,
When I’ve got no more to say.
When my sweet laughter ceases,
And those final trumpets play
Will my life matter
On that Judgment Day?
I asked my soul for the answer,
And promptly it replied,
“No need to worry man,
You gave it one hell of a ride.”
Age appears to be best in four things; old wood best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read. (Sir Francis Bacon 1561-1626)

Thank you Chris. Your father sounds like a smart man, with some wise words. I like his poem.
Happy New Year to you and your family!

50 is fine. IMagine being a kid again and having to work out what to do for a living all over again?

I certainly wish for that option. I think I would gladly re-live my sex-filled youth with my oh-so-hot friends (well, if homosexuality were as well accepted as it is today, anyway) even if it meant re-working out the future. I did it once and I could do it again and maybe things would turn out even better than it did this time around.

All we would have is a different life. Different highs and lows, different worries, hopes, fears. Different friends, some good, some not to be trusted. And the boys we knew, hot or not, well, they would be the same as they were then. And our knowledge of today would just make us precocious little queer shits.
I know I'm having a moan about my own life at the moment, but changing it is unthinkable

True Timmy... but I'd get to have sex with them all over again
You are entitled to your own moans, we all have them BUT, thinkable or unthinkable, we are the masters of our own destinies (excuse the clichè) and if we truly want something changed, then we will change it. If deep down we really do not want something changed, that is when it becomes "unthinkable". I have as hard a time coming to that realization as anyone, and I also know that sometimes circumstances can be overwhelming. The fear of having your entire world come crashing down on you like the Frank Slide can sometimes be too much to bear. On the other hand, we only have one life to lead...

Ah, well I choose not to change a situation where someone else relies on me.

...now you're prepared for a child, like I had when I turned fifty
When will you use your condom?
