... and everyone should now be able to go about their business.

Not that this is not a significant milestone; it is, and certainly not just for Americans.  We Canadians too were a-fixed our television-, mobile- or computer-screens (and perhaps if not likely, a combination of all three), RSS-feeds or however else we keep abreast of news-worthy developments.  American influence is felt so strongly by just about anyone, everywhere, that the spectre of a religion-orchestrated (if not completely dominated) Presidency under Messrs Romney and his gruesome ilk quite frankly scared the shit out of every rational, thinking and responsible being north of the 49th parallel, and so it should have; just as it should in every far-flung corner of this planet.

It is now equally important for all of us to let The Man go about his job, and we focus on living our lives as best we are able.

That is not to say it is time to pull it over to the side of the road and park the LGBTQ Juggernaut; because it is not; but, rather it is time for us to assess its' continuing impact whilst it motors merrily on its' journey and tweek its' direction however it might be necessary.

Real equality (for everyone) comes with an absolute absence of fear.  We learned this, and continue to learn, the hard way in Canada over the past 40-years (three successive generations and counting) and so now will Americans, and hopefully by extension and their dominance, so will the rest of The World.  Only without fear, let and hindrance, whether that be for a roof over our head, good and sufficient food on our table, secure and effective heath-care, freedom to choose our avocation or to be educated regardless of our gender or age and the ability to choose our faith or politics, all with relief from armed conflict and terrorism can any one of us ever hope to be the very best that we can be, each of us never less than equal than the other, and none of us superior.

I shudder to think about the amount of seed mortgage money and Habitat for Humanity housing starts could have been created out of the reputed 2 Billions Romney spent (as reported this morning at cbc.ca) on his bid for the U.S. Presidency; or the amount of food that could have been purchased and distributed to those in need throughout the Americas alone (and not counting the rest of the World) if that ocean of cash the Religion Nazi hegemony has been throwing around in their effort to thwart all manner of faith-based issues they disagree with and wish to influence; and the number of lives that could have been saved throughout the Third World had the Bishop of Rome and his acolytes seen fit to allocate the hundreds of millions it has spent in all manner of influence peddling in parishes throughout America trying to shore up its' hold on middle America.

The three aforementioned issues are but a drop in the water of what could well be a litany of injustice, and not just in America, but, in dozens of countries elsewhere; you and I know who and where; we read of them and see them countless times a day.  It is now time.  Be proactive.  Do something about it, no matter how small it may be, as from just one drop of water and many millions of like drops may come a waterfall and waterfalls have been known to shape The World around them.

Even by doing something as seemingly small as posting here, one does something. A post will give one person one more scrap of courage to do one small thing in real life. Those who read here without every posting see simple comradeship. They are no longer alone. Those who can do more than post should do one wise thing well, and then move on to the next wise thing to do well.

I'm curious to see how gun sales react. I couldn't care less who's in the Oval Office. It's all so pear-shaped it simply matters not who occupies the office anymore.
Either as a country we always promote the worst candidates, progressively eliminating the intelligent and honest until only the dregs remain, or candidates are picked, manipulated, and shoved down our throats. One or the other. Or both.

In the same election, propositions were on the ballot in four states regarding gay marriage.  In Minnisota, an amendment to that state's constitution prohibiting gay marriage was defeated.  In Washington (the state, not DC), Maryland, and Maine, propositions authorizing gay marriage were approved.  This is the first time in the U.S. that voters in any state supported gay marriage, and it happened in all four states where the issue was on the ballot.

My daughter (who lives in Canada, where this is not an issue) told me that, on the next day, she checked the U.S. election results.  Then she ran down her stairs to tell her wife that they were now legal in three more states.
