The latest challenge, I just realised, is the forty-second writing challenge.  Who feels up to cataloguing the number of authors and the number of stories that represents?

Maybe, had I realised in time, I might have created an HHG2TG challenge, but no teenagers were involved!

Just to prove what a sad case I am:

198 stories plus 3 late submissions + 2 withdrawn later = 203
59 authors. + 1 withdrawn later = 60

The first two challenges account for 14 stories written by 13 different authors.

Of the total of 60 authors, 33 have single stories and 10 have two credits.

How do we encourage the ones who don't submit often to come back?  And who will do it?

Did the first two have the highest number of entries?

The first challenge only had one entry.
The second (summer vacation) had 13.
the next highest number of entries was ten: Waiting and Recovery.

Some of the earliest authors have changed their life's emphasis, others are no longer living, but a goodly number of them might be encouraged to write again
