Well, the essence of life is in change, I guess. Change adds both spice and anxiety to life, doesn't it?

Those of you who have been aware of my current situation might recall that I have been thinking of making some major changes in my life. Those thoughts are becoming reality!

In 17 weeks time, I will be leaving my job in Hong Kong and resuming residence and work in the country that has been my heart's true home since 1990. Timmy will have to advise me how to chane my registered name on this MB from "David in Hong Kong" to "David in Thailand".

Yes, it's all happening. The group I wanted to join has invited me. It's a group of equals, there are no "Directors" and "employees", and I will become their 6th full partner, so it was no small thing to be invited to join them! Man will continue to keep our home about 1.5 hours drive from Bangkok, and I'll do some commuting while renting a nice small place to live during the work week. Man will be happy to come to the big city (Bangkok is actually nick-named "The Big Mango") every week or so, which means that we will be together more than half the average week.

I'll be leaving the security of the best salary and benefits package I've ever had, and moving into the unknown budget-wise, but there's every chance of things working out well financially after the initial settling in period. I'll have far less admin work to do, and more time for the parts of my job that I actually love, and also more time for writing, language study, all sorts of things really.

Plus Man and I will be together again.

So, after 5 years working in Hong Kong, I'll be going home.

It still all feels rather surreal, but I'm beginning to adjust to the new reality.

Thanks, everybody, for your good advice and good energy sent my way. It's working! YAY!!!!
