In another thread, Lenny mentioned the possibility of same sex couples having children via modern technology. Of course two males would not be able to do so, only two females. And, as Lenny mentioned, the resulting child could not be male since the Y chromosome is carried only by the male.
Tying this idea to the conversation about religion, I can foresee a time when a religion could arise holding a definite female bias and attracting females in large numbers by offering education and employment to females who would otherwise be disadvantaged in a male dominated society such as ours. The religion could allow sex with males, but not marriage or procreation. Instead it would encourage all female couples producing all female offspring. In time this could result in a decrease in the male birthrate which would obviously result in a much smaller percentage of the population being male. As the male population dwindles, so would the male advantage in wealth and power. Females would rule the world. Could the male existence become relegated to providing sexual pleasure to females?
I know this is a strange question to pose on a board populated by male homosexuals, but I am interested in hearing thoughts on the matter. I've been kicking around the idea of writing a futuristic sci-fi story based on this premise and what life might be like for homosexual (and even heterosexual) males in such a world.
Think good thoughts,
e
