Yesterday and today I and several other friends have had a very challenging experience. The reason for posting this here is in the hope tatthe friend who caused it will read it and realise that he is still loved, and we hope he will get back in touch.
A visit was to take place to one of us. The visitor had saved for ages and travelled a long way from the other side of the Atlantic to be here. A new career beckoned. It still beckons.
He made a mistake or two in his life, we think, and got trapped in a set of half truths and unruths. He felt unable to tell the truth, and because of this came here with an incomplete set of travel instruments and a story that was different from that known to his host.
Immigration is sending him home later today. He will be able to reapply to come to the UK again and, with 100% truth and the right papers, will be accepted.
My friend, it will not be half as embarrassing as you fear to talk to me again. I forgive you the untruths already. I tried to visit you at the detnetion centre and was not allowed. I think you were too embarrassed to call me from there. I wish you were not embarrassed.
The only thing that hs changed is that I now know who you are. It would have made no difference if I had known before. And the main thing is I am weeping because I will not get my hug. So I send it to you now, here, hoping that you will get it.
