By "grooming" I mean the subtle preparation of someone for an act or regime that he or she was unprepared for, or would under normal circumstance be unwilling to undergo. It is a term often used in the prosecution of paedophiles. It is a stealthy process that sometimes takes years. A number of peple here in their history have been victims of grooming. And it sucks.
It has come to my attention that one of us is performing this subtle process on others at present, by instant messenger and chat rooms and by emails. The process is subtle enough that the target will not realise what is happening until sucked in to things that he or she neither anticipated nor wanted.
I have no concerns over consenting adults walking towards each other with their eyes wide open. They may do as they wish.
I have major concerns when the perosn being groomed is too young to understand the implications of what is being done, let alone the legaility of it.
I am appalled that this is being done through this place. I am not yet going to name the groomer. I will if he does not cease at once from this and makes sure that I know he has stopped. This is not a children's game, and I am not playing, here.
I have spoken quietly to the parties concerned. It seems still to be going on, so now I am speaking publicly to the perpetrator. It is time to stop your acts. Especially with minors. It is not innocent fun.
