Man's father died this morning. So Man has dropped everything and gone to the family home near the Cambodian border. It's called Kanchanaburi, and is only famous as the real-life site of the "Bridge Over the River Kwai" which they made the movie about (WW II, Japanese occupation, hundreds of prisoners of war died).

It's weird, actually. Man doesn't know any of you, but I do. And you all only know about him thru me, but it feels to me like he's sort of involved here on the MB as well, despite the fact that he may never post a message of his own.

Buddhist ceremonies take place for three nights, with the body in this case being at home, kind of like an old-style Irish wake. That will be Friday thru Sunday nights. I'm very sad that I can't be there for him when he needs me the most. This was a shocking bolt out of the blue, but at least he wasn't sick for a long time. He just had a heart attack in his sleep and was gone...kind of like I'd like to go, come to think of it.

I'm glad, at least, that I'll be there for him when he gets back to our home on Tuesday...the same day that I arrive. We each seem to be good at picking the pieces up for each other.
