Which is one of the traditional other names for Thailand. (There are names for 12 different kinds of smiles, so you can see they take it seriously.

I haven't had to sleep alone for the past 10 nights, and that means we're coming up on the longest duration holiday break I ever was able to take while working in Hong Kong. WHEEE... Soon it will really hit me that I don't have to drag myself back there unless I want to see friends.

I suppose it will hit home in another way on the 26th, when a new paycheck is NOT deposited into my bank account...hehehe

I'm now eating loads of fruit and veg, trying to begin losing the 15 kilos I gained in the past 5 years of too much comfort food...UGH. Of course, living in the tropics assurs me many exotic fruits to eat (hehe). My current favorites are rose apples, which taste a bit like pears) and yellow water melon. Mango and guava are in close second right now.

To further jump-start the weight loss, I will go to a health resort for about 10-12 days of fasting, high colonics, meditation, and such, all in a luxurious and remote island in the Andaman Sea. I'll do that as soon as I finish working thru my huge To Do lists, hopefully by mid-August. Man says he's not even remotely interested in joining me on that jaunt! Not that he needs to, the cutie-pie.

We've been doing some repairs and maintenaince on the house...new water heater, some new furniture, some paint touch-ups, some plumbing and septic tank repairs, stuff like that. Makes us both feel quite homey (or homely, as the brits say).

Meanwhile, I chip away at the other big things on my lists...I was offered a full-time teaching position at the University I want to work part-time at. I was shocked, as I have never been an academic. Hopefully they'll agree to my teaching a few hours per week, still being negotiated. Very flattering tho! But I really don't want to start seriously thinking about work until next month!

I now have a home address in Bangkok...after looking at more than 20 places, we ended up deciding on the very nice Spanish/Mediterranean looking one I mentioned before. I/ve paid the deposit, and we take the keys and pay the rest of the money on Tuesday the 15th, just in time. In time, that is, for arrival of the shipment from Hong Kong! We've started to make lists of houehold things we need for the new place.

Hey Lenny, I have a new mobile phone, too, but decided against the one with the camera...just got a bigger color screen Nokia 7210. I hope I grow to not mind having to have one of these new-fangled devices...it's my first ever mobile...Man snickers every time I have to ask him something about it.

And so I am starting to relax. Yesterday was the first day I was able to not do anything except to go to Foodland for groceries. Who knows, we might even have time to go see a movie soon! Haven't even seen X-Men 2, let alone the newer ones.

Massage time! Bye for now!!
